Miami, FL.

Kevin Johansen Releases His Single And Video “The Available 20’s”
Miami, FL. – From the Roaring 1920s, those uninhibited years after World War I, to the 2020s, with its pandemic and its uprisings, there is a long and winding path. Kevin Johansen sums it all up in three-and-a-half minutes on his new single “The Available 20’s,” available now from all digital-music outlets.
Kevin Johansen will remain in the spotlight in the coming weeks with four livestreamed concerts from Buenos Aires’ exclusive music venue La Tangente, each with their own distinctive set-lists:
July 28: Original songs in Spanish
August 8: Original songs in English
August 18: Original songs and covers
August 28: The Latin American songbook
Kevin Johansen connects the 1920s and 2020s by way of the dance, using the word “available” in both its standard meaning and its Spanish homonym a-vailable which roughly translates to “danceable” – that which causes the body to feel uninhibited. A whirling vignette, featuring influences from swing and Charleston rhythms, give life to this beat that’s at once up-to-the-minute and quite nostalgic. It’s a reimagining of the era in a festive setting and an atmosphere of extended intoxication. A kaleidoscopic view of the surreal scenes of the 20s, which are with us again.
Singing in English, Kevin offers deep-toned vocals that give the song a universal sheen – what happens in one place will be replicated elsewhere. The song references a Swedish girl named Freedom who furthers the festivities’ open spirit even as the world seizes us and puts us through the wringer. In summary, the spirit of “The Available 20’s” reminds us of the availability that awaits us in these times.
“‘The Available 20’s” is a conjunction of moods, and the advent of the 2020s took me back to the 1920s. I started thinking about cycles, historic times, socio-political factors, obviously the Interwar Period. The 1920s were an era of prohibitions, for example alcohol in the United States, but also of celebrations with the expectation that the War to End All Wars had already been fought,” states Johansen.
“It is a thought on cycles and what the 2020s will end up being. Could they be remembered as mad? They already are – this year started off crazy. It’s about the celebration of life, about the 1920s gluttony rather than protest as a way of manifesting individual liberty, collective liberty, of the feeling that ‘we will not be defeated’ that was present in the 1920s and 100 years later. “The Available 20’s” would be just that – the party as a collective protest. Dance as a manifestation of freedom.”
