Miami, FL.

RESIDENTE Releases New Vibrant Reggaeton Called “HOY”
With Electric Visuals Directed By Him
Following His Impactful Ballads During Quarantine by the Iconic Artist, Residente Visually Delivers A Music Video Concept Set to Disrupt Society’s Norm About Sex
Miami, FL. – Today, the Puerto Rican rapper, composer, producer, co-founder and former leader/vocalist of Calle 13 and Grammy® Award Winning artist and director (29 Grammys), Residente and Sony Latin Music, announced his third official single and music video, “Hoy” from his most anticipated second solo album (set to be released later this year). The music video for “Hoy” was directed by Residente and produced by Worldjunkies, where he delivers an electric energy on the concept of sexual attraction and disrupts society’s way of thinking when it relates to sex. The super pop colorful video wraps fans in a world of being under a spell with no inhibitions, where is shares not a care in the world about sleeping with complete strangers and is based on pure animal instinct. In addition, the video represents visually a tongue and cheek response to living in the moment and “Dancing in the Dark” and “Afternoon Delight” feel.
Residente also makes a cameo in his own video as the bartender seeing the sexual attraction play off between two people from different descents. The single’s beat plays into the choreographed movement from the actors, which also features top actors from Argentina including Julieta Díaz, Julieta Zylberberg, Leonardo Sbaraglia and Laura Cymer.
During a shifting time globally, Residente released an impactful single, “Ante Que El Mundo Se Acabe,” which featured 113 kisses from 80 countries around the world and featured his Hollywood friends including Zoe Saldana, Bad Bunny, Ricky Martin, Ben Affleck, and many more. In addition, he released “René,” a single and video that impacted the world with the emotional and mental struggles we go through in life. Both records are not set to be part of his upcoming second solo album and continue to impact the world with millions of views on Youtube, and placed as the #1 videos in the USA, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, República Dominicana, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Perú, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, El Salvador y Uruguay. In February 2019, Residente released his second single, “Pecador” from his second solo album. The single comes after the success of his energetic dembow/reggaeton, “Bellacoso” ft. Bad Bunny. “Pecador” was expressive narrative about a human confessing his sins and thoughts. Visually, Residente directed the music video featuring a concept of religion and the inner child, who has no boundaries with expression and opinions on the world’s corruption.
Further expanding his exploration of innovative musical and scientific parallels, Residente is working with the neurology departments of Yale and the University of New York, where Resident teamed up with professors to study brain wave patterns in worms, insects and mice for the making of his second album. Using electroencephalogram (EEG) tests, Residente tracks communicative rhythms that has turned them into sounds for this new project in which has resulted in “Bellacoso,” “El Pecador” and “Hoy.” Through brain waves and frequencies, Residente connects in both a scientific and emotional environment, achieving collaborations that inspire the creation of music without barriers.
