San Juan, Puerto Rico – Manuel Cidre Miranda, secretario del Departamento de Desarrollo Económico y Comercio (DDEC), anunció que Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico, LLC. (LTPR), acordó recibir incentivos del Gobierno de Puerto Rico para poder afrontar los retos que la industria aeronáutica está atravesando. Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico, LLC. es parte de Lufthansa Technik Group, compañía con base en Alemania que se especializa en el mantenimiento, reparación e inspección (MOR, por las siglas en inglés) de flotas de aviones comerciales. Esta empresa ha estado establecida en Aguadilla desde su fundación en el 2014 y es la única compañía de mantenimiento Lufthansa Technik ubicada en América. El incentivo otorgado a LTPR servirá para apoyar el futuro de sus operaciones y, por lo tanto, de su fuerza laboral, la cual consiste de 318 empleados. Además, esto permitirá a la compañía aeroespacial aumentar la adquisición de bienes y servicios locales.
El Secretario Cidre detalló que la asignación de incentivos proviene del Fondo de Incentivos Económicos, al amparo del nuevo Código de Incentivos de Puerto Rico. Estos incentivos no solo servirán para retener los empleos existentes, sino que servirán para crear empleos adicionales a pesar de la recesión económica mundial sin precedentes que atraviesa la industria de la aviación. LTPR informó al DDEC que ellos habían conseguido dos contratos considerables de líneas aéreas, parcialmente por el apoyo ofrecido por el Gobierno de Puerto Rico. La ejecución y entrega de estos servicios será posible gracias a los incentivos otorgados, los cuales están destinados a la retención de empleados e inversión en bienes y servicios locales.

Con una inversión de capital de más de $39 millones, su instalación de vanguardia es una de las plazas más modernas y eficientes en América, con capacidad de realizar mantenimiento y pintura de aeronaves en paralelo.
DDEC and Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico Reach Agreement to continue supporting Employment Opportunities and Increasing Supply of Local Goods and Services
San Juan, Puerto Rico – Manuel Cidre Miranda, Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DEDC), announced that Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico (LTPR), LLC agreed to receive funding support from the Government of Puerto Rico to cope with the challenges the aviation industry is facing. Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico is part of the Germany based Lufthansa Technik Group and is specialized in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of commercial aircraft fleets; it has been established in Aguadilla since its foundation in 2014 and is the only Lufthansa Technik base maintenance company in the Americas. The stimulus assigned to LTPR will support the future of its operations and thus its workforce, which consists of 318 employees. In addition, it will allow the aerospace corporation to increase the acquisition of goods and locally sourced services.
Secretary Cidre explained that the aid comes from the Economic Incentives Fund, which is part of the new Puerto Rico Incentives Code. These incentives will not only be used to retain existing employments, but to create additional positions despite the unprecedented worldwide economic recession in the aviation industry. Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico informed the DEDC that they have secured two substantial contracts with airline customers, partially due to the assistance received from the Government of Puerto Rico. The performance and delivery of services for these contracts will be enabled by the granted incentives, which are destined towards employee retention and investment in local goods and services.
