Liberty nuevamente trae Safer Internet Day a la Isla y conduce esfuerzos de concientización durante el año entero a través de su campaña Navega con Seguridad.
San Juan, Puerto Rico – Liberty, junto a su compañía matriz, Liberty Latin America (LLA), está celebrando Safer Internet Day para resaltar la importancia de utilizar internet de manera responsable y segura. El evento, el cual marca su 21ra edición este año, se celebra a nivel mundial el martes, 6 de febrero de 2023 y lleva el tema “Juntos por un mejor internet”.
Liberty estará celebrando Safer Internet Day en la Isla por 17to año consecutivo y continuará sus esfuerzos de concientización durante el año a través de su campaña de responsabilidad social corporativa Navega con Seguridad. Su propósito principal es educar a la población general a utilizar el internet de manera responsable y segura. El micrositio de la campaña https://www.libertypr.com/es/navega-con-seguridad ofrece recursos descargables, videos, hojas de consejos y materiales educativos.
“El internet es una herramienta muy valiosa y esencial para todos, pero con su uso viene una responsabilidad para crear un ambiente seguro en línea. En Liberty, sentimos que es nuestra responsabilidad el proveer información para ayudar a los padres, maestros, niños y al público a utilizar el internet de manera segura, practicar la ciberseguridad y respetarse mutuamente mientras se conectan a raves de las redes sociales”, dijo Giovanna Ramírez de Arellano, directora senior de comunicaciones y responsabilidad corporativa en Liberty.
Este año, la página web de Navega con Seguridad ha sido actualizada con contenido educativo producido por la compañía que cubre una variedad de temas como ciberacoso, alfabetización digital, seguridad en línea, como crear contraseñas seguras, sexting, compras en línea y discursos de odio, entre otros.
Para marcar Safer Internet Day 2024, Liberty ofrece a los niños y jóvenes, padres, maestros y al público general varios consejos útiles de la página web de Navega con Seguridad para usar internet de manera segura y responsable:
Para niños:
· No te comuniques con personas extrañas: Si no conoces a esta persona, no le des información
personal como tu nombre, tu dirección, teléfono o el nombre de tu escuela. Y mucho menos, no
aceptes encontrarte con esta persona para conocerse.
- Protege tu identidad en línea: No compartas tus contraseñas con nadie excepto tus padres. Si
tienes una cuenta de correo electrónico o perfiles en las redes sociales, dale las contraseñas a tus
padres. No subas fotos tuyas en línea que no quieras que otros vean.
Para el público en general:
- Protege tu computadora con un firewall y buen programa de antivirus y asegúrate de que esta al día.
- Siempre mantén el sistema operativo de tu equipo actualizado.
- Crea contraseñas fuertes usando una combinación de letras, números y símbolos que solamente tú puedas entender. Cambia las contraseñas frecuentemente y nunca las compartas con nadie.
- Nunca abras correos electrónicos de contactos que no conozcas o instituciones con las cuales no haces negocio.
- No hagas compras por Internet de negocios que no conoces y que no puedan garantizar tu seguridad en línea.
Para los padres:
· Aprende lo más posible sobre el internet: Si conoces el internet y peligros como el ciberacoso,
secuestros y la pornografía, puedes ayudar a tus hijos a navegar con seguridad y responsabilidad.
· Enséñale a tus hijos a proteger su seguridad en línea: Dile a tus hijos que no compartan
información personal en el internet. Si tienen cuentas en sitios como Facebook e Instagram, muéstrales cómo aplicar los controles de privacidad para evitar que desconocidos puedan obtener acceso a sus perfiles.
· Instala un filtro de internet o controles parentales para bloquear sitios inapropiados en su computadora.
Para los maestros:
· Familiarízate con la política de tu escuela con respecto al uso del internet: Debes saber qué está
permitido y qué no para darle una orientación adecuada a tus estudiantes.
· Enséñale a tus estudiantes las reglas básicas de seguridad en el internet: Muéstrales cómo proteger su identidad en línea, qué sitios son adecuados y a reportar cualquier incidente o contacto inapropiado.
· Enséñale a tus estudiantes a usar el internet éticamente: Demuestra cómo hacer investigaciones utilizando recursos adecuados y respetando los derechos de autor. Enséñales lo que es plagio y propiedad intelectual para que aprendan a usar el internet responsablemente.

Liberty continues to raise internet safety awareness on Safer Internet Day 2024
Liberty once again brings Safer Internet Day to the island and conducts awareness efforts year-round through its Navega con Seguridad campaign.
San Juan, Puerto Rico, February 1, 2024 – Liberty, along with parent company, Liberty Latin America (LLA), is celebrating Safer Internet Day to highlight the importance of using the internet responsibly and safely. The event, which marks its 21st edition this year, will be observed worldwide on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, and will continue to feature the slogan “Together for a better internet.”
Liberty will celebrate Safer Internet Day on the island for the 17th year in a row and will continue its internet safety awareness efforts throughout the year with its corporate social responsibility campaign Navega con Seguridad. Its main purpose is to educate the public on how to use the internet responsibly and safely. The campaign’s microsite https://www.libertypr.com/es/navega-con-seguridad offers downloadable resources, videos, tip sheets, and educational materials.
“The internet is a very valuable and essential tool for everyone, but with its use comes the responsibility to create a safe environment online. At Liberty, we feel it is our responsibility to provide information to help parents, teachers, children, and the general public to use the internet safely, practice cybersecurity, and respect each other while connecting through social channels,” said Giovanna Ramírez de Arellano, senior director of communications and corporate responsibility at Liberty.
This year, the Navega con Seguridad webpage has been updated with new educational content produced by the company that covers a variety of topics such as cyberbullying, digital literacy, online safety, how to create secure passwords, sexting, online shopping, and hate speech, just to name a few.
To observe Safer Internet Day 2024, Liberty offers some useful tips for children and teens, parents, teachers and the public from the Navega con Seguridad website on how to best use the internet safely and responsibly:
For kids:
- Don’t communicate with strangers: If you don’t know them, don’t give them personal information such as your name, address, phone number, or the name of your school. And certainly, do not agree to meet this person to get to know each other.
- Protect your identity online: Don’t share your passwords with anyone except your parents. If you have an e-mail account or social media profiles, give your passwords to your parents. Don’t upload online photos of yourself that you don’t want others to see.
For the general public:
- Protect your computer with a firewall and a good antivirus program and make sure it is up to date.
- Always keep your operating system software updated.
- Create strong passwords using a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols that only you can understand. Change passwords frequently and do not share them with anyone.
- Never open emails from contacts that you do not know or places you do not do business with.
- Do not make online purchases from businesses you do not know and are unable to guarantee your safety online.
For parents:
- Learn as much as possible about the internet: If you know the internet and its dangers such as cyberbullying, kidnappings, and pornography, you can help your children surf the web safely and responsibly.
- Teach your kids to protect their safety online: Tell your kids not to share personal information on the internet. If they have accounts on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, show them how to apply privacy controls to prevent strangers from gaining access to their profiles.
- Install an internet filter or parental controls to block inappropriate sites on your computer.
For teachers:
- Familiarize yourself with your school’s policy regarding internet use: You should know what is allowed and what is not allowed to give proper guidance to your students.
- Teach your students the basic rules of internet safety: Show them how to protect their identity online, which sites are suitable, and how to report any incidents or inappropriate contacts.
- Teach your students to use the internet ethically: Show them how to do research using the appropriate resources and respecting copyright. Teach them what is plagiarism and intellectual property, so they learn how to use the internet responsibly.
